Waxing is the process of semi-permanently removing hair from the face and body. This technique removes the hair from the root unlike shaving and has longer lasting benefits.

It is an efficient way to have smooth and hairless skin, although not permanent, results can last from 2 to 6 weeks. Unwanted hair can be removed from any part of the face and body such as brows, upperlip, underarm, arms, legs and bikini. This gives you more flexibility than for instance threading which is not ideal for larger areas.

Is Waxing permanent?

No, waxing is not a permanent hair removal solution. Unlike laser hair removal, it is a semi-permanent hair removal with results lasting longer than in the case of shaving, trimming and depilatory creams. Hair is removed from the root and grows back within 2 to 6 weeks depending on the area.

In the long-term, waxing might slightly damage the hair follicle which weakens the hair growth. You might start to notice slower and finer regrowth in the long-term.

On the other hand, laser hair removal not only damages the hair follicle but destroys the papilla, where growth occurs. Due to the permanent benefits of laser hair removal, this is our number one option, but this is not always feasible for all clients.

Should I wax or laser?

This is a difficult question to answer, as there are many factors that plays a role in your decision. Waxing is more affordable in the short term, while laser will save you money in the long-term. It is also available more broadly, looking at all types and hair colours, while laser works best on dark pigmented hair and is not effective on light, blonde or grey hair.

Waxing may be done on pregnant women, while laser is contraindicated. At No Filter Laser & Aesthetics, laser hair removal is our number 1 go to for permanent hair removal, but waxing is always there as an alternative. We use Depileve Wax products, offering you excellent results and a comfortable treatment.

Is waxing painful?

Although waxing is harmless to your body, unfortunately there is a pain factor involved. The hair is simply being pulled from the root and it is definitely going to hurt more than just shaving it off and lasering it.

Some areas might hurt more than others and your first wax might also hurt more than the subsequential appointments.

The good news is that the treatment is done quickly and efficiently, and that the pain felt is not unbearable.
